Team chat
Who is in chat
Owners, admins and members use chat. Approvers, viewers and clients on a review link do not see it at all: a client's decision on a review link arrives in chat as an update instead.
Every channel is readable by everybody who uses chat. Linking a channel to a client decides where conversations and updates about that client start, not who can see them.
Channels
General is always there, for anything at all, and catches updates that belong to no linked channel. An owner or admin can archive a channel: it stays readable, nothing new can be written in it, and it can be restored.
- Open Chat and press New channel, or press Cmd K and type "new channel".
- Name it, usually after the client or the project, and add a one line topic if you like.
- Under Client or campaign, pick an account group or a label, or Neither. Updates about that client's posts and accounts are posted into the channel, and Discuss in chat on one of them opens it.
Mentions and tags
Type @ in a message to mention a teammate or tag a post, an account, a client group, a label, a rival, a rival's post, a library picture or video, or a smart link. A mentioned teammate is notified; a tag notifies nobody. A tag shows as a chip that opens the thing it names, and the post, account or rival shows where it was discussed.
To search one network, start with its short name, for example @ig bakery. Every network has one, and the list shows when you type @.
Discuss in chat on a post, an account or a rival opens the right channel with the tag already in the message box.
Updates and assignments
Crestnote posts updates into chat when a post fails, a first comment or a thread fails, a post waits for approval, a client approves or sends back a post, a connected account stops working, an RSS feed keeps failing, a recurring post stops or a webhook is switched off. A channel can also receive a rival's breakouts when you tick Post rival breakouts here, or follow that rival.
The same update repeating is counted on one message rather than posted again. Many close by themselves once the problem is fixed, for example when the post goes out or the account is reconnected. Anything else you close by hand.
Assign a message to somebody from its menu. Assigned to me lists what is waiting on you, and Open items lists everything still open.
Pins, search and About
Pin a message to keep it in the channel's About panel, which also shows the client's accounts, what is going out next and the rivals the channel follows.
Search messages by words, in one channel or every room, and narrow it to messages that tag one post, account, client or rival.
Catch me up and drafts
When you open a channel with many unread messages, Catch me up offers a short summary of what you missed. Draft a post from this thread writes a held draft in Publish from the conversation, which an owner or admin can do. Both use your AI allowance, and a draft is never scheduled or published by itself.
Good to know
New messages arrive within a few seconds while the page is open. You can edit only your own messages; an owner or admin can remove somebody else's. To get an email when somebody mentions you, assigns you something or replies to you, turn that alert on in Your profile.
