Planning your Instagram grid

What the grid shows

Grid shows an Instagram account's profile as three columns of tiles, newest first. Upcoming posts sit at the top in a dashed outline carrying their date, and below them are the posts already on the profile, read from Instagram each time you open Grid, including ones posted in the Instagram app or anywhere else. Stories are left out, and so are Reels that are not shared to the feed. If you have several Instagram accounts, switch between them at the top.

Reordering

1. Drag one upcoming tile onto another. The two posts swap their scheduled times.
2. Without a mouse, press the arrows button on a tile, then the tile to swap with. Escape cancels.
3. Click an upcoming post, or one published from here, to open it. Click any other tile to open that post on Instagram in a new tab.

Good to know

A post that is being sent right now cannot be swapped, and only upcoming posts can be swapped at all. Changing an approved post's time removes its approval record, and the grid asks before it does that; the post still goes out at its new time.

Instagram does not tell other apps which posts are pinned, so a pinned post sits in date order on this grid. A post published from here that has since been deleted or archived on Instagram is left off, and the grid says how many.

If Instagram cannot be read, for example because the connection needs renewing, Grid still shows your upcoming posts and says in one sentence why the rest are missing and what to do about it.
