Posting from an RSS feed

Adding a feed

1. Open Feeds and press Add a feed. Or press Cmd K and type "rss".
2. Paste the feed address, starting with https://, and check it. The dialog shows what it reads.
3. Pick the accounts each new item goes to.
4. Write the caption. Press Title, Link or Summary to drop in the item's headline, its address or its description wherever the cursor is. Leave it empty to post the title, a blank line, then the link.
5. Once the feed is checked, the dialog shows how the newest item would read as a post, cut to fit the strictest network you picked.
6. Choose whether to shorten links into tracked links and add UTM tags naming the network.
7. Save. What is in the feed now is left alone. Only items that appear after you add it become posts.

Drafts or the queue

By default each new item waits on Publish as a draft for a week. Schedule it before then, or it is marked missed.

You can instead let each item take the next free queue slot, where it goes out after a thirty minute review window unless somebody changes it. While publishing is paused, new items are held as drafts.

If a caption would be too long for a network, the summary is shortened first and then the title. The link is never cut.

When a feed is checked

New items are looked for every thirty minutes. Only items published after the feed was added become posts, and at most three become posts in one check, so a site that republishes its whole archive cannot fill your queue.

Each feed card says when it was last checked and when the next check is due. "Any moment now" means the check is due and waiting for its turn. If the card says the scheduled check is overdue, press Check now.

To look straight away, press Check now on the card. It does exactly what the scheduled check does, and the card then says what it found: how many drafts or queued posts it made, that nothing is new, or why the feed could not be read.

Check now does not run on a paused feed or while publishing is paused for the workspace. A paused feed is not checked at all. While publishing is paused, the scheduled check still reads the feed and holds each new item as a draft.

In Check feed, press an item's picture to see it large. When the feed only names a small thumbnail, the post uses the larger picture from the article page instead if it can be downloaded when the post is made, and the thumbnail otherwise. The enlarged view shows the larger picture.

Limits

How many feeds a workspace can have depends on the plan: see the table under Billing, trials and plans. Reddit and TikTok cannot be feed targets, because both refuse automated reposting.
