Adding a first comment

Post a comment under your own post the moment it goes live, on six networks.

Where it works

A first comment is posted on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, Bluesky and Mastodon. On other networks the post goes out without it.

On X a first comment is a reply, and X charges for it like any other post.

How to add one

  1. In the composer, open the First comment box under the caption.
  2. Write the comment. People often put hashtags or a link there, to keep the caption clean.
  3. Schedule the post as usual. The comment is posted right after the post goes live.

What happens if it fails

A first comment is attempted once and never retried, because a retry after a lost answer could post the same comment twice in public. If it cannot be posted, the post says why, and the "A post fails or misses its slot" email alert covers it.

A post that goes out as a thread does not carry a first comment on that network: the thread's next part plays that role.
